APY, TVL, and Categories

Net APY

Net APY is the yield displayed by Monad APR after aggregating known components.

It can include:

  • apyBase: base yield;
  • apyReward: rewards or incentives;
  • apyUnderlying: native yield from the underlying asset;
  • protocol-specific corrections or enrichments.

Why APY Can Differ From the Source Site

APY can differ when:

  • the source has an update delay;
  • Monad APR combines several rows tied to the same pool;
  • the protocol shows raw APY while Monad APR shows net APY;
  • APY includes temporary rewards;
  • the underlying asset generates yield itself.

TVL

TVL is used to:

  • rank pools;
  • evaluate liquidity;
  • detect very small pools;
  • avoid overweighting shallow opportunities.

Monad APR tries to avoid TVL duplicates when multiple sources describe the same exposure.

Categories

Categories help users compare similar products:

  • Stables;
  • MON / LST;
  • Lending;
  • LP;
  • Vault;
  • other specialized categories.

One strategy can sometimes look like several categories. Monad APR chooses the category that is most useful for user comparison.
